The Ronde des Beffrois: cycling through heritage

Why not take a little time? Time to rediscover Hauts-de-France to the rhythm of the wheels of a bicycle, the wind in the high spires of the belfries. On Sunday 29 June, the Communauté d'Agglomération Béthune-Bruay is offering a new experience for local residents and the curious: the first edition of the Ronde des Beffrois. A popular, intergenerational cycle-touring event open to all, it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Hauts-de-France belfries being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Five rides with no time limit, no pressure. Just the desire to cycle together, to discover or rediscover the landscapes, towns and belfries of a living region. Each route - from 30 to 150 km - links a starting commune to Béthune, where a cycling village will welcome participants and visitors for a convivial Fête du Vélo: activities, repair stands, promotion of soft mobility, community cycling routes and the forthcoming Tour de France.

With this first Ronde, the Agglomération is affirming its strong commitment to making cycling an everyday tool for discovery and transition. It's a simple, joyful way of forging links between local people and their surroundings. There are no numbers, no stopwatches. You can cycle through our heritage in slow motion, at handlebar height, as a family, with friends or on your own.

The Ronde des Beffrois is an invitation to celebrate the region in a different way. A breath of fresh air. A beautiful escape.

- Family Route (approx. 30 km): Aire-sur-la-Lys > Béthune

- North Route (approx. 100 km): Dunkerque > Bailleul > Béthune

- East Route (approx. 105 km): Cambrai > Arras > Béthune

- Southern route (approx. 90 km): Saint-Riquier > Hesdin-la-Forêt > Béthune

- Grande Ronde (approx. 130 km): Béthune > Doullens > Béthune
